To the Beach

To the Beach

Take my hand; let’s go for a walk

Along the beach, and amongst the rock

I’ve seen you grow, too fast for me

Your spirit now reaches, beyond us three

Let’s watch the tide, move in and out

And see the birds chased all about

Your body’s tall and muscles strong

Your legs walk fast and move along

Skip some stones, one, two, three

Hey, one for you, then one for me

That crooked smile still brings me joy

But now I know, you’re not my little boy

Sunlight reflects and makes water glow

A small boat passes and gives a tow

Out further Keenan’s tugboat is on its way

To another home in another bay

It’s been too long since we traveled here

Along the beach, just you and me

Our love is simple, intertwined and free

And blessed with beauty along this sea

Let’s do this again another day

And hope life’s simpler along the way
